The Brick-and-Mortar Dream

I hope you don't mind- I have really been thinking about what my brick-and-mortar bookstore would look and feel like, and I can't get the vision/idea out of my head- probably because I haven't been able to accomplish it yet and my brain likes to hyper-fixate on my goals until completed. So-- all that being said, I decided to share it with you.

For most of my life, books and plants have been my way of making sense of the world. Books hold stories, knowledge, and magic, while plants carry growth, healing and life.

Each bringing their own kind of simple joy. My dream is to create a space where people can slow down, discover new worlds and enjoy the beauty of living things. A space where I can share my simple joys and the peace that comes with that simplicity.

Recently, I discovered a building that feels like it is waiting for this dream. It has history, character (I mean I might be swooning over the arch doorway), and a perfect little courtyard which I just know would love a nursery- patterned after the most beautiful garden you've ever seen.

Every time I see this building (it's hard to miss), I don't see the dark windows anymore- no, I see a glowing warm light, displaying shelves filled with books, cozy chairs, children reading with smiles on their faces, and plants creating beautiful displays as they reach toward the sun.

I see more than just shelves and pots of soil. I see a welcoming bookstore filled with mystery, romance, fantasy, plant care and spiritual titles. Books that echo many paths, genres, and mysteries.

I see a green nursery garden where you can pick up a small (or large) plant to brighten your home, taking a small bit of the joy home with you. Perhaps learning to grow your own garden ---herb, flower, vegetable-- the possibilities are endless---just let me show you!

I see a gathering place for gardeners (think workshops)- for readers (think book clubs) and for people --(think conversations the bring people together and create lasting friendships.)

It's a big dream, but one I carry with a full heart. I am unfortunately all too aware that big dreams like this don't come easy, but I also believe in speaking dreams out loud and maybe through the magic of the universe coupled with my passion and persistence the right support, connections, and opportunities will open the door for a small miracle. I also feel that the most meaningful places are rarely built by one person alone, they only grow and achieve greatness when a community nurtures them together.
